Refrigeration Operator for Recreation Facilities Course

Level 1

The Refrigeration Operator for Recreation Facilities course (formerly known as the Arena /Curling Rink Operator Course) helps prepare students to successfully pass the Province of Manitoba Power Engineer Refrigeration Class exam.

Course Overview

The course follows the SOPEEC (The Standardization of Power Engineer Examinations Committee) Syllabus, which includes chapters on welding, air conditioning and electricity have been added. The course syllabus provides more detail on the new course material.

The course manual we will be using is the PanGlobal Power Engineering- Refrigeration Plant Operator textbook. Not only will these textbooks be used during both Level I and Level II but they will be a good resource for both facilities and facility operators. Registered Students will have access to the ebook (online) version through the online learner management system.

Students need to pass both the Levels I & II in-course assessments to receive the 900 credit hours towards the required 1,800 hours to attain the Power Engineer's License.

The course tests and final exams are designed to prepare students to write the provincial exam. Administration of the Province of Manitoba Power Engineer Refrigeration Class exam is the responsibility of the Office of the Fire Commissioner, Inspection and Technical Services Branch. Additional information regarding the provincial examination process is available online. All inquiries regarding the provincial exam should be forwarded to Inspection and Technical Services Manitoba.
